Perhaps someone decided they'd just like a souvenir. If they called the place home, they probably didn't want to leave a shred of it behind for us to ogle.
[ and steel splinters are quite handy to have when revenge is on the mind. Poor things probably didn't have a clue they were about to be stuffed inside a box and left to rot. ]

The ones I saw were inside. Though, with half the container missing, there's no telling what was done to the rest of it.
