[Zelos will be tracking down Sturmhond after he's back. Whether this means knocking on the man's rover or accosting him in the middle of camp, Zelos is up for the task! As to why, well he has his reasons. Some cruel, some kind and none of which he'd be keen to admit.]
[ He's easy enough to find in his rover. His bahari Korol reaches the door ahead of him rumbling even before the door opens. When Sturmhond lets Zelos in, the bahari doesn't attack, but he's not happy. Sturmhond keeps a hand on his neck, just in case. ]
Zelos. This is a surprise. Come in. Were you looking for me?
[ Here's hoping, since he's the only one around right now. ]
[Zelos glances at Korol, but for once doesn't put on a scared face at the sight of a bahari. Instead his gaze slides back to take in Sturmhond. He looks in one piece. Of course looks don't mean much of anything. Zelos doesn't look like a worshipped martyr, but it doesn't mean it isn't. And so...]
If I said I was looking to ask Alina out how quickly would you slam the door in my face?
[He is just asking....!! But dismissive handwave. It's a joke, surprise! Maybe.]
I was looking for a favor. Think you could grant me one~?
[ That actually makes him laugh, which surprises Korol enough to make the bahari back off for the moment. Sturmhond gestures into the rover, letting Zelos through. ]
I might actually pay money to see it. I think her reaction might be worth it.
[ Not that he thinks Zelos is serious. His hands slide behind his back once the rover door closes, and he lifts an expectant eyebrow at the redhead. ]
No man with any sense agrees to a favour before he’s heard what it is. Particularly not around you, I would have thought. What do you need?
[He lays a hand over his heart. Right there! He can definitely feel it breaking! He's also secretly watching Sturmhond's every movement and assessing it. No, he didn't come to coddle. But he can heal and if it looks called for he supposes he should make free with it. It's not like he can do magic through his own ability or anything so why be cheap with it...]
Someone with a brain is a good start. [He drops his hand.] Ever played chess?
Hmm. How about white. Instigating isn't my thing, but I'll be the villain in the scenario.
[Instigating is...all he does. And why does there need to be a villain? So he can associate Sturmhond with the hero of course. Saying things by not saying them isn't really how you have a conversation, but he does what he wants regardless of the sense involved.]
I guess you have hobbies after all though I think I lost a bet.
[For a guy who doesn't look like he's had the patience for chess in his entire life he sounds pretty confident. Taking his place behind white he watches Sturmhond set up the pieces with apparent interest. Interest as if he's...never seen the pieces in play before actually.]
You know freedom fighters have to ruin someone's life to get what they want. But sure. If I'm in this for freedom, what are you fighting for?
[Zelos studies the board, eyes flicking over the squares and the pieces. He's done this many times before. Play the game. Play the conversation. Play his luck, his life, his world's fortune.
And life moves on relentlessly; he can feel it leaving him behind. Or maybe that's just his fears blocking out the hope of a future. Placing his hand on a pawn he moves it forward a single square with seemingly careless decision.]
Who told you that? Someone with a lot of regret?
[Taking a seat on the edge of the bunk he stretches out his legs. His pants aren't as white as they were when he came to Macha, but it's not for lack of effort.]
The happiest people I've ever met couldn't even tell you what a horizon was.
[ His eyes flicker over the board, and he moves the corresponding pawn to match. It occurs to him that he’s never seen Zelos actively try to engage with strategy before. This game might be telling. Sturmhond will bide his time. In the meanwhile, it’s a welcome distraction, and he gives the appearance of feeling at ease with that. ]
I never claimed to be happy. I’m not sure that destroying entire worlds could provoke that for anyone, unless their touch with reality was specious. Or they took pleasure in death, I suppose. There are some like that.
[ He’s not one of them. He has never enjoyed killing. He just sees it as necessary. How many will he have to kill before he is assured that Ravka is safe? How many will it be? ]

But, since he's asking. ]
I have a set, in fact, courtesy of our stay on Selena.
[ It's in his locker. He goes to retrieve it now. He walks easily enough, without any outward sign of pain. If he's feeling any, he's concealing it. ]
Do you prefer white or black?

[ Sturmhond looks around indignantly. He imagines it was Dio.
He brings the chess set to one of the bunks and starts to lay it out, with black in front of him. At this point, he glances up at Zelos again. ]
Interesting that you think of the instigator as the villain. A freedom fighter would have a different view of that, I imagine.

He motions to Zelos, since after all white does move first. ]
They made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
[ It's the answer he gives most everyone. It's also true; it just lacks detail. ]
I'm a privateer, Zelos. This is a grander scale than what I did at home, but it's always good widen one's horizons.
