❚❚❚❚❚ BASICS.
■ NAME & ID CODE: Sturmhond | NHD-A10-SMD-022 ■ CANON: Between the end of Siege and Storm and the beginning of Ruin and Rising ■ AGE: 22 ■ CURRENT TEAM & STATUS: BLUE TEAM | Human male, no metahuman abilities. Usually armed, generally smiling. ■ LANGUAGE:
RAVKAN: This is his native language and the one he is generally speaking. It's the language of his home country, Ravka, which is basically a fantasy version of 18th Century Imperial Russia. It borrows and skews words from Russian and other Eastern European languages. For example, the Ravkan 'sobachka' means 'puppy', while the Russian 'sobaka' means 'dog'. If you play a character who is or speaks Russian, they may be able to understand some of Sturmhond's Ravkan, and vice versa.
FJERDAN: This is a language from another country in Sturmhond's world. He knows enough of it to converse. Similar to how Ravkan compares to Russian, Fjerdan would compare to the Nordic languages. This is unlikely to be relevant in game since he would only switch to it if he thought you knew it.
SHU: This is a language from another country in Sturmhond's world. It would compare to the Chinese languages. As with Fjerdan, it's unlikely to be relevant as he would only switch to it if he thought you knew it.
ENGLISH: On discovering that English seemed to be the common tongue used in the CDC, Sturmhond worked to learn it. He took initial classes with another character. Then, when allowed to experiment with the haroomba in his rover, he tweaked it so that it would speak in both English and Ravkan. His English still wouldn't be perfect, but it's always improving. Some words (especially slang and regional words) will still confuse him, but he can get by.
FRENCH: While living with Athos, Sturmhond learned French, and taught Ravkan in return. He wouldn't be as confident with it as he is with English. He could manage a basic conversation if need be. ■ INVENTORY: I try to keep track of it here.

❚❚❚❚❚ IC.■ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: He doesn't mind it in general. He'd be happy to hold your hand or embrace you, he'd be happy to kiss your cheek or sling his arm over your shoulders. If you give him the impression that you like your personal space, he'll respect that - unless he's trying to annoy you. He would only shrug someone off from touching him if they were an enemy, and even then, he might stand for it if he were playing some kind of angle.
■ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Go ahead - he often deserves it. If it's a real fight, Sturmhond will fight back. If it's just that he's annoyed you and you've lashed out at him, he's likely to try and calm things down instead of escalate them. It depends on the situation. If you're worried about what his reaction will be I'm always available to plot with you first!
Would your character die for another character currently in the game? Yes - for Alina Starkov. Probably not for anyone else, sorry.
Would your character kill for another character currently in the game? Yes, for the Instructors and for his close CR.
Is your character comfortable with and/or willing to mutilate a dead recruit’s body?He wouldn't be comfortable with it but he would do it if ordered. If left to his own devices, he wouldn't do that and would stop others from doing it.
■ RELATIONSHIPS: Sturmhond is charming by nature, and will comfortably flirt, flatter, and be generally friendly on the surface. Getting a real feeling out of him will be a little harder. He'll act like your friend so long as he finds you useful, but that doesn't mean he trusts you or even that he likes you. He's used to putting on whatever mask he thinks he needs to wear for any given situation, so what you see and hear is not always real. He's also very secretive even with people he does genuinely like. At this point it's just a habit, but that can also make it hard to get close to him. It also means that when he dislikes you, or views you as an enemy, he won't necessarily behave like it, at least not in day to day conversation. Romantically, he's spoken for - he wants to marry Alina Starkov, and any genuine efforts at romance are reserved for wooing her.
■ MENTAL INFORMATION: Please discuss any sort of mental invasion or contact with me first. He's an ordinary human and has no mental shielding at all, but that secretive nature I mentioned means he will not react well to someone rooting around in his head. This will in almost every circumstance negatively impact CR, unless he's given permission for it ICly. If your character does get into his head, they'll see that he finds it difficult to tell the whole truth, and he has a habit of avoiding straight answers. He's manipulative, and has a particularly active mind. He has problems with sitting still. He's always thinking about something, whether it's a military strategy, some manner of political manipulation, or the next gadget, gun, or craft that he plans to invent. His mind is never quiet and he has energy to burn. They would also see that his real name is Nikolai Lantsov, that he's a Prince, and he's here because he wants to get the CDC's help to save his country. These are things he absolutely will not want anyone to know unless he trusts them enough to tell them. TLDR, please don't have your characters get into his head unless we've plotted it out!
■ MEDICAL INFORMATION: He is physically very fit. He has a slightly crooked nose that's been broken at least once. He has spent the past eight years variously serving in the army, working as a gunsmith and shipwright, and running his own privateering enterprise on the high seas, so his body reflects what he has put it through. He is tall and lean, but is built with hard muscle, and his torso bears a number of scars - the occasional bullet wounds and healed cuts. His hands are calloused and rough, but precise.
Are they vertebrate? Yes.
Is “breathing” necessary for their survival? Yes.
Do they feel hunger? Yes.
How many fingers and eyes? Ten fingers and two eyes.
■ FAVORITE SENSORY INPUT: Sight.
■ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Sturmhond is an absolute expert at keeping his cool, and it takes a lot to get him to lose it. He has been known to lose his temper at talk of action that will cause pain or hardship for people, particularly if it's the result of an abuse of authority. He will step in to prevent things like mistreatment, torture and cruelty. Aside from that, he tends to act casual and relaxed even if he's not. Insults will be laughed at and attempts to anger him will be dismissed. A genuine challenge to his authority (whether real or perceived) will be meet with coolly ruthless strength, and if you endanger what he's working for or put him/his people at risk, he'll do whatever he feels he must to fix that. Including hurting you. Basically, he won't respond to mockery, but threaten him and you'll lose an eye. Or worse.
Does your character have any physical, emotional, or psychological triggers? Not at this canon point. That would change if I ever updated him to the end of Ruin and Rising, but I have no plans to do that at present.
Have they told another recruit of these triggers? N/A
Under what circumstances will they reveal these triggers? N/A
■ REBELLIOUS TENDENCIES: Sturmhond is currently loyal to the CDC. His reward for joining them is help for his country. His country is his first love; he's not likely to break his contract. The only way this would change is if he believed that remaining loyal would be harmful to his country. He will always do what he believes is in Ravka's best interests, and right now that means being pro-CDC.
■ ADDITIONAL PERMISSIONS: N/A |
❚❚❚❚❚ OOC.■ PLAYER: Kerry ■ PREFERRED CONTACT: Plurk: halfbloodly. I can also be found on AIM as mysterytourist. ■ BACKTAGGING: I'm happy to! Though if we've been backtagging the same thread for months, I may eventually have to ask you to wrap it up in order to keep CR consistent. ■ THREADHOPPING: Please do, I encourage that. ■ FOURTHWALLING: Go ahead, it won't bother him. It may make him think you're not all there, though. ■ ACTION VS PROSE: I'll do either, but I would prefer action if pushed. ■ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Please warn me first if you're going to talk about either excessive gore/body horror/torture, or animal cruelty. Other than that, I'm cool with most things. ■ YES/NO SCENARIOS:
NO: Permanent death of my characters; severe body horror; amputation / permanent loss of critical body parts or functions; permanent loss of senses.
YES: Most other things are fine, save for the caveats in the list below. Mild-moderate torture, either doing or receiving, as well as action scenes, fights, non-permanent injuries, killing others, kidnappings, threats, is all fine. It's hard to think of everything you might wonder about, so I'll just leave this as saying if it's not on either of the other two lists, it's probably fine. I'm happy to discuss specifics if there are any queries!
MAYBE: I don't like animal cruelty, but I'm fine with things like hunting/killing for food, so it would depend on the situation. If it was temporary sensory loss / temporary character death / temporary loss of function, I'd probably be okay with it but I would want the opportunity to say no. Things like sexual harassment or abuse, extreme torture, killing or hurting children and mutilation (either doing, or having it done) might be okay but would depend on whether it's IC for the character to do it, and what the circumstances were. I'd be open to discussing it, at least. ■ ANYTHING ELSE? I don't think so, but if you have any questions please ask! |
